Dr. Adam Shaffer is a board-certified pediatric dentist. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of California, Los Angeles. He then completed a Master’s of Science in Oral and Craniofacial Biology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) while concurrently completing advanced specialty training in pediatric dentistry at UCSF and at Children’s Hospital Oakland.
Dr. Shaffer continues to be involved in academia and is a former assistant clinical professor at UCSF in the department of pediatric dentistry. He has lectured on topics ranging from oral sedation safety protocols to emerging non-invasive means of treating dental caries (cavities).
Dr. Shaffer regularly takes continuing education courses in all phases of dentistry, as well as pediatric dentistry, in order to maintain his status board-certification status and ensure he’s providing the highest quality care to his patients.
As part of his commitment to and his interest in serving others, Dr. Shaffer spends time treating underserved patients abroad. He has traveled to both Honduras and Fiji, volunteering on dental outreach trips.

Born and raised in Alameda, Dr. Shaffer is proud to call the Bay Area his home. He enjoys going to the beach and spending time with his wife, two children, and their family dog, Buster. He also likes rooting for the Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants, and being outdoors, especially when he’s running, cycling, or snowboarding.
